Bugsy's officially opened on November 15, 1997. The idea for Bugsy's started in the fall of 1996. The idea quickly became a vision that was seen and shared by many talented individuals. It is truley a 'store' created my many. The name Bugsy was as a family members nickname. The nickname started as Ladybug and over the years shortened to Bugs and Bugsy. The little red ladybug is used interchangeably with the name Bugsy's and we feel adds a warmth and comfortableness to an already warm and comfortable store. The store has been built in a Santa Fe style of architecture and features a central fireplace and courtyard. The basic philosophy of the store is shownbest by the mission statement- " Bugsy's is successful in business because one feels comfortable to sit long, talk much and spends with joy." The product seen at Bugsy's comes from a variety of sources- there is a tremendous amout of incredible talent in Penticton and area and some of the work of local artisans is for sale in the store as well as giftware from teh three main Canadian gift shows and also product from the Southern States as well as Mexico. We are constantly looking for affordable, but attractive and functional pieces. Bugsy's also hosts a bookclub called 'Bugsy's Bookies' that meets the last Wednesday of each month. Since the opening in 1997 Bugsy's has been pleased to sponsor a young man from Nairobi, Kanya - Mbugua Kebe - through World Vision. We hope you will find the time to visit with us in thisvery relaxed atmosphere and also to wander slowly out into the delightful courtyard. Our hours at Bugsy's are from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday thru Saturday and in the summer months of July and August we are also open on Sundays from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.
